School Climate Work
The Prevention Coalition sponsors school climate work in local middle and high schools. At the middle school level, this work takes the form of bullying prevention activities done with all students. At the high school level, the Prevention Coalition supports student groups that are working to impove their schools and communities. A recent project resulted in the production of a coaster with messages about underage drinking (see image below). The coaster was then distributed to local family restuarants that serve alcohol. Upcoming projects include spreading awareness about alcohol-related rape, creating air fresheners with drinking & driving messages on them, and educating retailers about how alcohol marketing in their stores may target youth.
